Buddies Make it Better

You’ll find more enjoyment, and your odds of success are greater when you exercise with a friend. There are social, physical, and psychological benefits to working out with a buddy.

You’ll be less apt to skip a session because you don’t want to disappoint them. You’ll enjoy each other’s company enough to work through the session quicker than you imagined. You’ll also have a chance to do partner activities you couldn’t do solo.

A 2016 study published by the University of Aberdeen polled approximately 200 participants. Half were asked to find a new gym buddy and the others were to continue with their normal routine. Results show that the group with new exercise partners ended up exercising more than those who continued as usual. Success increased even more when the new gym buddy was emotionally supportive.

Choose a friend who shows good discipline and shares similar fitness level, goals, and schedule to reap the best rewards.

According to the American Council on Exercise (ACE), a study has concluded that people imitate the positive or negative behaviors around them. Study participants displayed a greater level of self control when surrounded by those with strong self control and they exhibited poor self control when subjects with bad habits were with them.
